Blind Estimation of the Pseudo-random Sequence of a Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Signal

چکیده
Direct sequence spread spectrum transmissions (DSSS) are now widely used for secure communications, as well as for multiple access. They have many interesting properties, including low probability of interception. Indeed, DS-SS transmitters use a periodical pseudo-random sequence to modulate the baseband signal before transmission. A receiver which does not know the sequence cannot demodulate the signal. In this paper, we propose a method which can estimate the spreading sequence in a noncooperative context. The method is based on eigenanalysis techniques. The received signal is divided into windows, from which a covariance matrix is computed. We show that the sequence can be reconstructed from the two first eigenvectors of this matrix, and that useful information, such as the desynchronization time, can be extracted from the eigenvalues. Experimental results show that the method can provide a good estimation, even when the received signal is far below the noise level.

Optimum decoder for multiplicative spread spectrum image watermarking with Laplacian modeling
This paper investigates the multiplicative spread spectrum watermarking method for the image. The information bit is spreaded into middle-frequency Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) coefficients of each block of an image using a generated pseudo-random sequence. Unlike the conventional signal modeling, we suppose that both signal and noise are distributed with Laplacian distribution, because the ...

This work proposes a direct sequence spread spectrum transmitter with high transmission range and efficiency for audio signals. It is shown that by choosing high process gain for spread spectrum signal the data could reach a range of 55km in the 2.4GHz ISM band. By employing a light modulation scheme, we have a relaxed SNR requirement for having a low bit error rate (BER) which translates to re...

Recently, blind multi-user detection has become an important topic in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. Direct-Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) signals are well-known due to their low probability of detection, and secure communication. In this article, the problem of blind multi-user detection is studied in variable processing gain direct-sequence code division multiple access (VPG D...
متن کاملEstimation of the Spreading Waveform of a Spread Spectrum Transmission
Spread spectrum signals have been used for secure communications for several decades [4]. Nowadays, they are also widely used outside the military domain, especially in Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) systems [2]. Due to their low probability of interception, these signals increase the difficulty of spectrum surveillance. Direct-Sequence Spread Spectrum transmitters (DS-SS) use a periodica...
متن کاملA Semidefinite Relaxation Approach to Spreading Sequence Estimation for DS-SS Signals
In non-cooperative scenarios, the estimation of direct sequence spread spectrum (DS-SS) signals has to be done in a blind manner. In this letter, we consider the spreading sequence estimation problem for DS-SS signals. First, the maximum likelihood estimate (MLE) of spreading sequence is derived, then a semidefinite relaxation (SDR) approach is proposed to cope with the exponential complexity o...
